If you’re looking for a fun, festive and utterly lavish experience to treat yourself and a loved one to this Christmas, then we highly recommend checking out The Dylan Hotel’s Festive Afternoon Tipsy Tea.

Featuring impeccable service, scrumptious food and drink options, and a cosy, luxurious setting in one of Dublin’s few five-star boutique hotels, this really is the perfect treat.

Putting a yuletide twist on a year-round favourite, the festive afternoon tea at Dylan Hotel combines a taste of Christmas with delicious afternoon tea must-haves and tipples to whet the appetite. Last week, I was lucky enough to avail of this luxurious spread, served in the Dublin hotel’s atmospheric cocktail bar, The Ruby Room, on behalf of the Easy Food team.

Upon arrival, I was handed the impressive drinks menu, which featured an array of seasonal tipples, from the likes of their fruity Winter Passion cocktail to the rich and daring Earl Grey Martini, from the creamy Nutcracker to the sumptuous White Chocolate Martini.

Craving something a little bit sweeter, I opted for the Winter Passion cocktail, which consisted of Dingle vodka, freshly squeezed apple juice, a splash of lemon, passionfruit purée and Prosecco, and I must admit that it tasted every bit as good as it looked.

To kick things off, I was delighted to taste the array of traditional sandwiches, including Dylan’s signature Irish smoked salmon with cucumber cream cheese, duck liver parfait served on homemade brioche with a cranberry compote, a slow roasted turkey fillet finger sandwich with truffle dressing, and an aged cheddar and Limerick baked ham finger sandwich with mustard aioli, all served in generous portions.

These delicious sandwiches were followed by an afternoon tea staple of warm, fluffy and fresh vanilla-scented scones served with thick clotted cream, raspberries and a medley of fruit preserves.

Then, it was time to indulge in the hand-made pastries, presented with a festive and seasonal twist. I had the pleasure of enjoying an orange and Grand Marnier Crème Brulé, with a crunchy, caramelised top layer that you break into to reveal a silky smooth, set custard beneath – the star of the show in my book. This was then followed by a rich almond and hazelnut financier with a roasted chestnut and honey Cremieux, a mulled wine and macerated fruit and cherry jelly, a creamy, flavourful mini tiramisu with mascarpone and amaretto expresso savoiardi, and a heavenly slice moist, lightly spiced Christmas pudding.

Tea and coffee lovers won’t be disappointed with the extensive menu of aromatic and bodied options – from blood orange infusions and liquorice green tea to a wild berry infusion, there’s something for everyone.

The Festive Tipsy Tea is €45pp and includes sandwiches, pastries, tea infusions and coffee, along with an opportunity to enhance the experience with Christmas cocktails, making it the ultimate treat this season.
