To make sure that ‘monster mash’ only makes an appearance at Halloween, there’s just a few simple things to keep in mind.
- Follow the step-by-step instructions for boiled potatoes, ensuring the potatoes are very tender.
- Drain well and return to the pan.
- In a small bowl, combine some milk or cream with a large knob of butter and heat in the microwave until the butter has melted. Add to the potatoes and mash well.
- Season generously with salt and pepper. Serve as is, or add any other flavourings you like.
