Sticky beef and cashew stir fry
Serves 2
1 1/2 tbsp soy sauce
1/2 tsp chinese five spice
2 sirloin steaks, sliced into thin strips
Salt and black pepper
1 1/2 tbsp sesame oil
1 garlic clove, crushed
2cm fresh ginger, grated
pinch of Chilli flakes
30g cashew nuts
2 tbsp oyster sauce
120g tenderstem broccoli
1/2 lime
2 spring onions, sliced

To serve:
Lime wedge

  1. In a bowl, combine the soy sauce and Chinese five spice. Add the beef, season well and toss to coat.
  2. Heat one tablespoon of the oil in a wok or large frying pan over a high heat. Add the beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes, or until browned. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
  3. Heat the remaining oil in the pan. Add the garlic, ginger, chilli flakes and cashews, then stir-fry for one minute.
  4. Add the oyster sauce and 50ml water. Bring to the boil, then add the broccoli and cook for 3-5 minutes.
  5. Return the beef to the pan. Add the lime juice and spring onions.
  6. Serve with noodles, lime wedges and sesame seeds.
