- In a cocktail shaker, combine the whiskey, lemon juice, simple syrup and egg white, if using.
- Fill the shaker with ice, cover, and shake vigorously for 20-30 seconds until the outsides of the shaker are very cold.
- Strain the cocktail into a rocks glass. Garnish with orange zest or lemon slices and add a few shakes of Angostura bitters, if desired.
