For the barbecue sauce:
- Place the chicken wings into a large bowl. Mix all other ingredients together and pour over chicken. Toss until well coated and leave to marinate for at least two hours, or overnight if possible.
- Preheat the oven to 200˚C/180˚C fan/gas mark 6. Spread the wings on a baking tray and cook for 40-45 minutes until crispy, regularly brushing with additional sauce.
- Meanwhile, combine the ingredients for the barbecue sauce in a small saucepan. Heat over a low heat and cook for 30 minutes, stirring together regularly.
- Serve the wings hot with the sauce on the side. The sauce will keep for up to three weeks in a tightly sealed container in the fridge.
