Makes 500ml, easily multiplied
50g fresh ginger, peeled and sliced about ¼ cm thick
Zest of 1 grapefruit, grated (be careful not to include the pith)
- Place the ginger and grapefruit zest in a large. sealable glass jar. Pour over the vodka and close tightly with a lid.
- Store in a cool, dark place for one week, shaking the jar once a day. Taste the vodka to see if the flavour is strong enough; if you’d like the ginger to be more pronounced, reseal and set aside for three days longer.
- Strain the vodka through a sieve and discard the ginger and zest. Transfer to a pretty bottle, adding slices of grapefruit to decorate if desired. Seal tightly with a lid and gift to a lucky, booze-loving friend.
