- Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over a low heat. Cook the onion gently for 5-6 minutes until soft. Add the pears and raisins and cook gently for 10 minutes.
- Add the mixed spice, sugar, vinegars, port, cranberries and orange zest and juice. Stir to combine and cook for another 10-12 minutes.
- Season with salt and pepper, then add more sugar or vinegar to taste if necessary. Serve warm.
