To serve:

  1. Place a baking tray in the oven and preheat the oven to 190°C/170°C fan/gas mark 5.
  2. In a bowl, combine the apples, sultanas, sugar and cinnamon.
  3. Lay one sheet of filo on a large piece of baking parchment and brush with some of the melted butter, then sprinkle over a little brown sugar. Lay on another sheet of filo and continue the buttering/sprinkling process until all the filo is stacked, reserving the remaining butter.
  4. Spoon the apple mixture onto the filo in a line down the centre, leaving a 2.5cm border around the edges.
  5. Fold the short sides on to the apples, then fold one of the long sides over the filling and continue to roll up.
  6. Brush with the remaining butter and sprinkle over any remaining sugar mixture from the apple bowl. Still on the parchment, transfer the strudel to the preheated baking tray. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden and crisp.
  7. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Serve with custard or ice cream.
