    Peppermint ornaments Easy Food

Making your own ornaments is a fantastic way to get in the holiday spirit! These peppermint decorations will fill your house with the smell of mint, what’s not to love about that?

    Making peppermint ornaments

    Makes 10

Metal biscuit cutters (go for basic shapes, like circles, trees or gingerbread men)
    Non-stick cooking spray or oil
    Peppermint sweets, crushed
    Cocktail stick

    1. Preheat the oven to 160˚C/140˚C fan/gas mark 3 and line a baking tray with parchment paper. Coat each biscuit cutter very generously with cooking spray or oil, then arrange them on the baking tray.
    2. Fill each biscuit cutter with peppermints. Add as many as you can fit, but make sure they fit in one single layer.
    3. Bake for 5-10 minutes until the sweets melt together. Keep an eye on them so that they don’t burn.
    4. Lightly coat a cocktail stick with a bit of cooking spray or oil.
    5. Remove the baking tray from the oven and insert the cocktail stick into one end, where some string can loop through to make the ornament.
    6. Leave the peppermints to sit in the cutters for a few minutes until they re-harden. Once hard, pop the peppermints out of the cutters and tie some string through the hole to hang up the ornament!

    Top tip

Larger, simply shaped biscuit cutters work best for this project. The more intricate the cutter, the more likely the ornaments may break when removed from their moulds.
