“We are The Merry Mill, a family business based in Merrymount Vicarstown, Co. Laois. We are the first certified organic gluten-free oat mill in Ireland. When we started our journey to set up our mill, two of our immediate family members were diagnosed as coeliacs. This encouraged us to make our products gluten-free. Because of this, we have a good understanding of the seriousness of the condition. We don’t outsource any part of the production and we test the oats regularly to ensure they are of the highest quality. We grow harvest and mill oats on our home farm in Co. Laois, and we only grow oats on our farm to ensure there is no cross-contamination from other grains.
Unlike our competitors, our oats are not precooked, and this gives them a distinctive flavour and creamier taste. We sell through health food shops and we also have an online shop where we can sell directly to our customers: from field to spoon.
We grow our oats in complete harmony with nature. There are no chemicals used at any stage during the process. We put a huge emphasis on the health of our soil. We believe that health comes from the ground up.”
