    Wicklow Wolf rebrand Easy Food

Being that it’s Zero Waste Week, we couldn’t be happier to hear that Wicklow Wolf have rebranded, and moved to cans over bottles to ensure less environmental impact.

Our neighbours, Wicklow Wolf announced the opening of a 35-hectolitre brewhouse and taproom in Newtownmountkennedy, Wicklow and the move from bottle packaging to can format resulting in a better beer and a sustainable future for the five year old independent brewer.

Built on a 2-acre site, the new 17,000 sq ft brewery will be home to Wicklow Wolf’s new brewhouse, tanks and canning line, carefully constructed to allow the brand to drastically decrease its water wastage, energy use and carbon footprint using only  100% renewable electricity in the making of their beer.

The new premises will increase Wicklow Wolf’s annual productivity eight-fold supporting their plans to expand domestically and into European markets and further afield. Wicklow Wolf Brewing Company Easy Food

The move from bottle to can format is yet another leap in Wicklow Wolf’s journey towards becoming the most sustainable beer makers in the country. This new packaging also comes with a clever rebrand that continues to hero the brands heritage highlighting their independent status and affinity to their wild surrounds.

The move will also ensure a higher quality product than ever before, reducing the risk of oxidisation or of light impacting the quality of the brew.  Creating a far smaller carbon footprint in transit, aluminium cans, unlike glass bottles, can also be recycled indefinitely, can be thrown in household recycling and require 95% less energy to create from recycled material.

To further offset their emissions, the independent craft beer makers also planted a thousand native trees and house eight beehives on-site to support local biodiversity while also using some of the honey in special brews.

The brewery produces eight core beers as well as a range of collaborative brews and Limited Edition beers called Endangered Species which it distributes to 1,000 off-trade and 250 on-trade locations around Ireland. The new Wicklow Wolf cans will be sold in two sizes, 440ml and 330ml and will be available in SuperValu and selected off-licenses nationwide.

We love to chill out with friends and enjoy a nice, cold beer, and now thanks to Wicklow Wolf, doing just that is more guilt-free than ever before!
