Fish and wine, what more could you possibly ask for?
Every Monday, Fish Shop Benburb Street hosts a weekly Wine Club from 5 pm. Alongside their regular selection, they pick an additional handful of wines, which are poured by the glass allowing guests to try new wines at a very reasonable price.
The fish shop’s list usually consists of about six or seven different wines – some from their own selection, and others sourced specifically for the evening.
The club offers a wine experience that is interesting, diverse and that encourages guests to taste something new.
On previous weeks, wines have included: the Morgon Côte de Py from Jean Foillard and As Sortes from Rafael Palacios for €9 a glass; Cerasuolo di Vittoria from Cos and Viña Gravonia from López de Heredia for €7.50; Puligny Montrachet from Chavy-Chouet at €12 and there is always a glass of grower’s Champagne for less than a tenner.
Last month, the fish shop hosted the first in a series of special monthly Monday Wine Clubs when Pascal Rossignol and the team from Le Caveau came in for the evening. Guests were treated to rare wines from the exciting Jura region.
On May 27th, some of Fish Shop’s allocation from Vinostito of the exceptional rosé Viña Tondonia Gran Reserva Rosado from López de Heredia will be accompanied by lobster rolls from the kitchen.
Then, later in the summer, the Monday Wine Club sees Sinead and Liam Cabot sharing some wonderful wines from their Roka winery in Slovenia.
As always with Benburb Street there is no need to book – just pop down and get stuck in.
We’ll be seeing you there!
