As the leaves turn golden, Knockranny House Hotel & Spa will celebrate the turning of the seasons with their Foraging Weekend on 9th and 10th October, bringing a focus to the local autumnal produce foraged from the hotel’s surroundings.
With check-in for guests on Friday evening, the foraging experience will begin on Saturday morning with a guided foraging session in Old Head Woods. Led by Will Williams from Walk on the Wildside, guests will see how and where mushrooms grow in their natural habitat, learning identification techniques and points to watch out for. Later that afternoon, guests will cook the foraged bounty outdoors over a campfire.
Returning to the hotel, participants will enjoy a fascinating mini cooking demonstration and tasting with chef Seamus Commons and a tutored wine tasting from in-house manager and wine maker, Nick Leroux.
On Saturday evening, guests can look forward to the highlight of the weekend, a tasting menu from chef Seamus Commons with a focus on the finest game from his trusted suppliers, including venison, mushrooms and a host of other autumnal ingredients.
Two night’s B&B including the tasting menu, foraging session, wine tasting and cooking demonstration costs €275 per person sharing. For more information or to book, visit www.knockrannyhousehotel.ie.
