The (gingerbread) house that Noel built


    Lough Erne Resort in Co. Fermanagh is always a special place to stay, but this stunning gingerbread village from  Easy Food guest editor Noel McMeel takes the biscuit!

    The smell of gingerbread in the air can only mean one thing at Lough Erne Resort Hotel: the Resort’s freshly baked Gingerbread Ski Chalet is back just in time for National Gingerbread House Day.

    The sugary, fully-edible masterpiece is something of a tradition at the luxury Resort and takes more than two weeks for the team to make. Handcrafted by Executive Chef Noel McMeel and his team, the gingerbread village is made using a staggering 303 eggs, 10kg of plain flour, 14 tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda, 30 teaspoons of ground ginger, 2kg of unsalted butter and 900ml of golden syrup.

    The gingerbread ski village, complete with moving train, will be on display at Lough Erne Resort throughout the month of December. Check it out below:
