The range includes 11 luxury handmade cheeses locally sourced from across Ireland, perfect for serving guests a luxury cheeseboard — or just treating yourself to a nibble! The farmhouse cheeses will be on sale for just €2.99 each. The range consists of:

With restaurants and hotels closed throughout Ireland due to Covid-19, local cheese suppliers have been feeling the impact. Hoping to alleviate some of this pressure, Lidl is working with five Irish artisan cheese suppliers — Cooleeney Farm in Tipperary, Wicklow Farmhouse Cheese in Wicklow, Knockanore Farmhouse Cheese in Waterford and Bluebell Falls and Carrigaline in Cork — to ramp up supply for this dedicated artisan cheese promotion, available in 163 stores while supplies last.
Breda Maher of Cooleeney Farmhouse Cheese commented, “It’s been an incredibly challenging time for small businesses and suppliers across the country. Irish farmhouse cheesemakers are extremely grateful to Lidl for this much needed support and we hope that Lidl shoppers will enjoy our range and back local in these uncertain times.”
To showcase the range, Lidl Ireland are once again partnering with the GastroGays to host an Instagram Live on Friday, 12th June from 7pm, where Patrick and Russell (@gastrogays) will be taking over Lidl Ireland’s Instagram page to offer tips and tricks for creating the perfect cheeseboard and how to make their Port Slide cocktail, a delicious combination of port and gin with a hint of lemon and finished off with a dusting to nutmeg — have your cheese and fancy glasses at the ready!
About the cheeses
Cooleeney Farmhouse Cheese: The Maher family have been making awardwinning cow’s and goat’s milk cheeses on their family farm at Moyne, Thurles Co Tipperary since 1986. (Try using Cooleeney to make this sinfully delicious hot dip!)
Knockanore Farmhouse Cheese: Eamonn Lonergan and his family create their cheeses using milk from their own herd of Friesian dairy cows on the family farm.
Carrigaline Farmhouse Cheese: From their ancestral farm on the South coast of Ireland, the O’Farrell family produce a delicious, semi-hard cow’s milk cheese range. Since 1987, Carrigaline cheeses have reflected the rich limestone soils of the area and the care given to each hand produced cheese.
Wicklow Farmhouse Cheese: The Hempenstalls have been making their hard and soft cheeses on their family farm since 2005. John and family produce their cheeses from their own milk from their Freisian dairy herd.
Bluebell Falls: Based in Co. Cork, Bluebell Falls is a family business run by Victor and Breda O’ Sullivan. Their free-range goats have some of the best grazing land in Ireland so they produce the highest quality goat’s milk, perfect for making their unique handmade, farmhouse goat’s cheese.
