Wouldn’t it be nice if our food just fell from the sky into our laps, à la Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs?
Soon that dream might just come true! Well, sort of.
The Irish Independent reports that Manna Aero, a Dublin-based drone delivery firm set up by CarTrawler chief technology officer Bobby Healy, has said it will launch its first food-delivery drone services in Ireland next month with the fast-food delivery service Flipdish.
Healy told the news outlet that he has clearance from Ireland’s regulators to do it and will start with an area servicing 30,000 people.
On Manna Aero’s website, the company says it’ll take your takeaway about three minutes to get to your front door.
It’ll deliver directly from the restaurant to your home, flying an altitude of 80 metres and at a speed of over 80kph — “delivering within a 2km radius in less than three minutes”.
Flying food all over town? Now that’s what we’re talking about!
