By now, everyone has heard about Matt Damon’s adventures around Dalkey during lockdown, from going swimming with a SuperValu bag of towels (sadly, since confirmed not a bag of cans) to inspiring fierce protectiveness on behalf of the locals when a New York Times investigator tried to get the inside scoop on his Irish quarantine. Going about his business like a normal fella, it’s become clear he has no Hollywood notions about himself, and, as a result, he’s definitely endeared himself to the nation. Sure, he’s one of us now!
Damon’s indefinite stay on the Emerald Isle has inspired our longtime favourite burrito bar, Boojum, to create a limited edition dish in his honour. Apparently, during a 2016 Reddit ‘Ask Me Anything’ session, Damon professed his love for tacos, including his own personal favourite interpretation.
“My ideal taco is actually the taco I’m not supposed to have, which is… the crunchy corn shell with the good meat, just ground beef in there. It’s all about the layering. The meat’s gotta be hot, and the cheese goes on first so that it melts. And then you’re gonna get in there with a little bit of tomato and lettuce, but not too much cause it’s not a salad, it’s a taco, and then you’re gonna throw some avocado on top and some sour cream and then a bunch of Cholula… maybe squeeze some lime on top, and go to town.”
Matt Damon Tacos in all their seasoned beef, cheese and Cholula sauce glory will be available to order in Dublin through the Boojum contactless Click ‘N Collect platform from next Monday 18th May for one week only, giving Matt and his family plenty of time to ‘go to town’ on the famous flavours of the popular Irish eatery. In a kind gesture, Boojum will donate €1 from every order of Matt Damon Tacos to Pieta House.
