There is a new must-visit attraction for fans of oysters from Ireland and beyond. The Sligo Oyster Experience is Ireland’s first dedicated oyster trail and visitor centre, and is open now (August 2nd). The experience includes a short walking tour along the Garavogue river, with live oyster shucking demonstrations and tasting opportunities for the visitors.
The new attraction is part of the ‘Taste the Atlantic’ seafood trail, which stretches along the west coast of Ireland, and takes in many of our most productive seafood areas. Speaking at the opening, Jim O’Toole said ‘the vision for Taste the Atlantic is to provide visitors the opportunity to explore, understand, and get to know how the wild Atlantic waters influence the production and taste of some of Ireland’s seafood’.
If you’d like to visit, bookings can be made at any tourist office nationwide, or online at the Sligo Oyster Experience website.
If you’d like more information on the ‘Taste the Atlantic’ seafood trail, this can be found on the Wild Atlantic Way website.
