Better than brunch and definitely more educational than some old match on TV, spend a leisurely, pleasurable and informative Sunday afternoon in Cliff Townhouse with Wines from Spain and drinks consultant and expert Susan Boyle, exploring some of the delicious wines of DO Navarra.
On Sunday, 21st October, from 3-5pm, Susan will introduce a curated selection of exceptional wines from Navarra, the unique wine region in northern Spain, close to the Pyrenees, where wine has been produced since Roman times. Stretching 100 kilometres from the valleys of Pamplona to the plains of the Ebro river, the diversity of the climate and landscape of the DO help to produce a variety of diverse styles of wine.
Wines from Spain is delighted to host this showcase and has worked with the finest bodegas across the Navarra region to choose five stand-out wines to introduce to guests, comprising of a rosé — a fresh Garnacha and Tempranillo blend from Chivite — plus two whites and two reds.
These include a Chivite Colección 125 Chardonnay 2015, an elegantly intense and full-bodied Chardonnay with tones of hazelnuts, almonds, sweet spices, citrus fruits, apricots, fragrant herbs and certain creamy memories from the barrel. Also on the list is the Ochoa Calendas Blanco with the freshness and vivacity of Viura, structure from Chardonnay and fantastic floral aromas from a small percentage of Muscatel, and Inurrieta Norte Tinto Roble 2016, a wine from the young but dynamic Bodega Inurrieta, a Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot blend with cassis, elder and plums on the nose, with lovely scents of vanilla, cedar, toasted oak, cinnamon and a whiff of green pepper.
At Advanced level with WSET (the Wine and Spirit Education Trust) and an award-winning drinks writer, Susan also presents drinks on Virgin Media One Saturday AM, and her unique insights will complement the wine to perfection. Guests will also enjoy a selection of cheese and charcuterie boards featuring jamón Ibérico de Bellota and Manchego cheese, amongst other Spanish delicacies.
Tickets for this two-hour Navarra afternoon delight are €25 per person. Bookings can be made via email firstname.lastname@example.org. For further information, visit the Cliff Townhouse website.
