If you’re looking for gorgeous Irish gift ideas, look no further. Sisters Aoife and Siobhán Flaherty have turned their Gather restaurant in Tuam into a lifestyle and grocery store. Named after their homeplace, Abbert, it is a treasure trove full of Irish artisan produce from food and drink to blankets, candles, pottery, jewellery, socks, skincare and much more.
They have their own in-house sweet and savoury goodies, too, made in the restaurant. Food to go includes seafood chowder, dahl, beef stroganoff, Thai chicken curry, lasagne, vegetarian quiche, tiramisu, apple crumble and cinnamon rolls. The shelves are groaning with stellar Irish products like Builin Blasta smoked onion mayo, Bean and Goose chocolate, Harry’s Nut Butter, Wildwood Vinegars and Gather salted caramel, and local producers like Andarl Farm Velvet Pork, Kylemore Farmhouse Cheese and the Friendly Farmer chicken are well represented.
Abbert is based in Varden House, High Street, Tuam, Co. Galway, and is open six days a week; closed on Mondays.
