Half of Irish people plan to staycation in 2019

Half of Irish people are planning on staycationing in Ireland in 2019! This is in complete contrast with the last year’s trend that showed only 30 per cent of people holidayed in the “Emerald Isle”.

The Irish consider ‘the craic’ one of the main reasons to holiday at home, as well as the possibility to enjoy more of the lovely countryside, the ancient sites and the fast-growing cosmopolitan towns.

When it comes to holidays off, Irish people seem to miss their own bed more than anything else. And regarding their favourite topic, the weather, over a third of people surveyed are not afraid of a bit of rain – or they simply wouldn’t let the weather bother them at all, whether it’s rainy or sunny.

Surprisingly, 78% of Irish women between 35-44 don’t bother to bring their mothers-in-law on family holidays – What about you? Would you bring your mother-in-law on your annual getaway?

This research is commissioned by Keelings.
