For the second year one of Ireland’s most loved TV cooks and food writers, Donal Skehan will be the official ambassador for the European Milk Forum (EMF) and National Dairy Council’s (NDC) “Cheese Your Way” campaign.
Well-known for his accessible, inspiring and encouraging recipes geared to the everyday home cook, Donal has returned to the Emerald Isle from Los Angeles to kick of this year’s campaign with brand new cheesy recipes.
“It’s great to be part of the “Cheese Your Way” campaign again,” he said. “I want to get people excited about cooking and tasting a variety of cheeses to add to their home cooking repertoire. I am really excited to share the recipes that I have created this year, featuring a variety of European cheeses that are cost effective and easily accessible from local artisan suppliers or supermarkets.”
Cheese is a concentrated source of protein, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, vitamins B12 and K2, and is low in lactose. The pan-European campaign, which is supported locally by Skehan and the National Dairy Council, is being implemented to educate Irish consumers on the importance of including cheese in their everyday diets in a variety of traditional and contemporary ways.
At a time when more and more people have been experimenting and cooking more at home, Donal endorses the joy in trying out new artisan cheeses from home and abroad. Donal adds: “There really isn’t a better time to enjoy trying the unique flavours of European cheeses available from local cheesemakers that can deliver to your doorstep. With the versatility of cheese working with sweet and savoury ingredients you can easily create your own flavour combinations to make a signature dish or snack to truly enjoy cheese your way.”
