The October issue of Easy Food is on its way to a shop near you! Packed with everything from serious comfort food to Halloween goodies, read on to find out what’s in store…
1. Comfortably yum
Our collection of hearty meat-free comfort foods will see you right through winter, whether you’re a permanent veggie or simply looking for some new meat-free Monday inspiration. We’ve also included ways on how to turn any leftovers into a whole new meal — and they’re well worth cooking extra!
2. No meal left behind
Speaking of leftovers, we’ve been finding new ways to use up some of those fridge favourites to create tasty new meals. From mashed potato to that sad-looking head of lettuce, these recipes will help you cut down on food waste and find new favourites in the process.
3. Keeping cosy
The evenings are growing ever darker, and we’re definitely ready for some serious comfort food! Jamie Oliver is back with a new book, Together, with menus designed to share, and has given us a sneak peek into his sumptuous Curry Night feast with mouthwatering recipes.
4. Feelin’ hot, hot, hot
If you’re in need of something spicy, you’ll love our latest selection of fiery favourites. Whether it’s quick-fix tacos or a hearty veg-packed tagine, you’ll find something to keep those fires burning!
5. Everyday eats
As always, we’re answering that daily “what’s for dinner?” question with our regular meal planner, bringing you from those dreaded Mondays all the way through to the weekends — dessert included!
6. Cupcake cuteness
For a sweet treat as visually gorgeous as it is delicious, Food Stylist Shannon has been creating some seriously Insta-worthy cupcakes. Whether you’re baking for a special occasion or simply want to indulge in something cute, cupcakes are always the answer!
7. Spooky season
Throw your scariest-ever Halloween party with our ghoulishly ghastly goodies… be afraid, be very afraid!
8. Inspector gadget
Learn about one of our Test Kitchen reliables and how we use it to make meal prepping, storing and serving a breeze.
9. Apple of my eye
We’ve been experimenting with in-season apples and creating a delectable range of new sweet and savoury recipes, from cakes to fritters. (Fancy some homemade custard to go with that old-fashioned apple cake? We’ve got that, too!)
10. Game on!
It’s also wild game season, and if you don’t know your pheasant from your venison, our local butcher is here to talk us through game for beginners — plus, we’ve got a recipe for venison Bourguignon, an impressive but so-simple dinner party main that only gets more delicious if you make it ahead of time.
11. Eating Ireland
Deputy Editor Jocelyn has been on a culinary journey to Ireland’s wild Atlantic coast for this month’s edition of Eat Ireland, finding new ways to celebrate our heritage by cooking with seaweed. We’ve used this dillisk butter on a lovely piece of lemon sole, but it’s also gorgeous with roast chicken, fresh bread, baked potatoes or tossed through pasta.
The October issue of Easy Food is in shops from October 7th — don’t miss out!
