2 tsp ground cumin
3 garlic cloves, crushed
4 tsp olive oil
4 sirloin steaks, any fat trimmed
Salt and black pepper
1 kg sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
50 g butter
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1 For the marinade, add the paprika, cumin, garlic cloves and oil into a large bowl and mix together.
2 Add in the steaks and toss in the marinade. Season with salt and pepper. Using your hands (making sure to wash them first), rub the marinade into the steaks. Cover the bowl with clingfilm and place in the fridge until needed.
3 Place the potatoes in a large saucepan with water and place on a high heat. Bring to the boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes or until the potatoes are tender. Drain the potatoes, return to the pan and set aside.
4 Preheat the grill to a high heat. Remove the steaks from the fridge and put them onto the grill pan. Grill for 2-3 minutes on each side for rare, or cook for longer, as to your liking.
5 Meanwhile, place a frying pan on a medium heat and add the butter and garlic cloves. Melt the butter with the garlic until soft.
6 Pour the butter and garlic on top of the potatoes and mash together. Divide the mash between four warmed plates and serve with a steak.
