Bray institution and well-known music venue The Harbour Bar is hosting Ireland’s first Toastie Festival this weekend, running from Friday November 3rd to Sunday 5th. We’re looking forward to this celebration of the humble ham and cheese toastie, one of Ireland’s perennial favourites and the ideal option to go with that well-earned pint or perfect pot of tea.
From classic to fancy, there’s a toastie for everyone on the menu, including the purist’s ham and cheese and The O’Toole Toastie (ham, cheese, tomato and onion) – named after the family that ran The Harbour Bar for three generations – alongside more adventurous fillings such as the Mac & Cheese; the Cheese, Bacon, Caramelised Onion Marmalade & Fig; and the Halloumi, Harissa & Honey.
Visitors can snag a seat by one of the Harbour Bar’s roaring fires or cosy up out front for outside service from the O’Toole Toastie Van. Match your toastie with your favourite tipple and, for “tea totallers,” there are free tea top-ups, too. With vegetarian and coeliac options included, and all welcome including doggies, no-one will feel left out.
